Writing is a key element of literacy. Many believe that the kinesthetic experience of forming letters allows children to internalize the alphabet by helping them make the connection between the letter form and its name. Since drawing is an important part of learning to write, we have created very simple drawing and coloring exercises that provide children with elemental forms that they will use in construction letters. These lessons encourage control. We have also designed a simulation that allows children to watch a pencil draw each letter. Like all simulations, this one should be used in conjunction with children writing letters on paper. We offer keyboard lessons that encourage children to seek out and read letters on a computer keyboard. Drawing Activities
